Getting started

1. Install

Install PromoLock from the Shopify App Store. Nothing is changed on your theme or storefront.

2. Activate your trial

On first open you’ll be asked to pick a plan and activate your trial. You won’t be charged until the trial ends, and uninstalling ends it automatically.

3. Follow the setup guide

The dashboard opens with a Setup Guide of three steps, each checked off automatically as you complete it:

1. Add the checkout extension (Shopify Plus). Click Add to checkout, add PromoLock in the checkout editor, save. One-time step; there’s a Learn how to add video right on the card.
2. Setup your first discount block. Click Enforce Control and flip on a lock in the Controller. The guide suggests the Discount Stacking Lock, the classic low-impact first move, and the stop stacking guide walks it through.
3. Create your first guarded discount. Click Create discount and build a simple first offer in Discounts; the Margin guards defaults already keep it off sale items and gift cards, and caps can be added any time.

The guide can be dismissed once you’re done with it. It comes back on its own if the checkout extension ever drops out of your live checkout.

4. Build your analytics report

The dashboard’s Discount insights card starts with a Build my report button (the same as Initialize report on the Analytics page). Click it once: PromoLock reads up to a year of your order history in the background and refreshes it daily from then on. Do this on day one, so the report has data by the time you look.

5. Switch on LeakHunt

Next to the Controller card is a LeakHunt tab reading Exposed. Click Activate free. LeakHunt is included with your PromoLock plan and finds the codes already leaked to coupon sites.
