Block or allow specific codes

A code escapes to a coupon site, an old campaign code refuses to die, or you simply want only your official codes working. All three are the Discount Lock with different modes.

Scenario 1: a code leaked — block it now

Section titled “Scenario 1: a code leaked — block it now”
  1. Open ControllerDiscount Code tab → Discount Lock, switch it on.

  2. Set Mode to “Block only these codes”.

  3. Enter the leaked code under Blocked codes. If the whole campaign family leaked, use a pattern: SUMMER# blocks every code starting with SUMMER.

  4. Save. The code is dead at checkout, effective immediately — no waiting for a discount to be edited or expire.

Scenario 2: only official codes should work

Section titled “Scenario 2: only official codes should work”
  1. Same card — Discount Lock, switched on.

  2. Set Mode to “Block all codes except”.

  3. List your official codes under Allowed codes — exact codes or patterns (VIP# allows the whole VIP family).

  4. Save. Anything not on the list is rejected, including codes minted by apps you forgot you installed.

Set Mode to “Block all codes” — useful during a sitewide sale where prices are already cut and codes shouldn’t apply, or as an emergency brake. Flip it back off after the event.

Whatever the mode, the Error message field controls what a blocked customer sees. Something honest converts better than a mystery: “This code is no longer active.” beats the default when the code genuinely expired.

Try the blocked code at checkout — rejected with your message. Try an allowed code — applies normally. The dashboard’s Controller card shows Discount lock — On with a summary of the codes affected.

  • For conditional blocking — “block this code only under $50 subtotal” — you want a custom rule instead.
